This past week, we had the pleasure of hosting Theo Bartling from Borden Grammar School for his work experience, what a week of brilliance it was! ADR wanted to take a moment to celebrate Theo’s time with us and wish him all the best.
From the moment he arrived, Theo made quite an impression on our team. He is a very bright student; on track to achieve incredibly high marks in Mathematics and Physics. Theo’s sharp mind was evident throughout his time here. It’s clear he has a strong aptitude for the analytical and problem-solving skills crucial to engineering.
During his week, we ensured Theo had a truly immersive and beneficial experience. He completed a structured week of learning with our engineers, delving into various aspects of consulting engineering. This wasn’t just about observation; it was about engaging with real-world scenarios and understanding the principles behind our work. Our team genuinely enjoyed sharing their knowledge and seeing Theo’s enthusiasm for learning.
A few words from Theo.
My name is Theo Bartling and I had work experience at ADR where I could broaden my horizons of the working world. Personally, I really enjoyed the work experience and I would recommend it to all young people. To gain an understanding of both the working world and the building engineering industry.
ADR were very friendly even to the point where I got driven partly there and back by one of the employees. The team also changed the work experience agenda based upon my interests. They had a genuine passion for their work which could be seen through their enthusiasm when teaching me all about it. During the week, they gave me an introduction to multiple software giving me a true understanding of the industry. This also gave me a good idea of whether to pursue an electrical or mechanical career path.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience that gave me a good insight into the industry. Made all the more enjoyable due to the friendliness of the people working there.
Theo quickly became a member of the team. His curiosity, polite demeanour, and keen interest in everything we discussed made him a pleasure to have around. He asked insightful questions and showed a genuine desire to understand the intricacies of our work. He’ll definitely be missed around the office!
Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of his week was the opportunity to visit one of our live sites. There’s nothing quite like seeing theoretical concepts come to life, and we believe this experience was invaluable for Theo. Understanding the scale of projects, and experiencing the practical application of design principles provides a perspective that textbooks can’t replicate.
We are confident that whatever path Theo chooses, whether it’s further studies in engineering, or something different, he will undoubtedly excel. He possesses the intelligence, the work ethic, and the inquisitive nature that are hallmarks of success.
On behalf of everyone at ADR Consulting Engineers Ltd, we wish Theo the very best for his future endeavours. It was a privilege to have him with us, and we would welcome him back anytime!
